“I got tired of cutting grass,” said Bruce Campbell, the late founder and visionary of Greater Missouri Builders, when recalling why he and his wife in 1968 made the decision to leave their single family home behind and purchase a villa where exterior chores such as grass cutting were taken care of for residents of the community.

Campbell had already been in the building business for 20 years by 1968, but was focused on offering single-family homes and developing commercial projects.  But moving into a villa, a product line that was brand-new in the St. Louis
marketplace, led Campbell to believe this idea could be so popular that he shifted his company’s attention to building villas, condominiums, and townhomes.
